The Drakkar was a fast Viking long sea and river ship. In Czech, this term merges with the more correct langskip (according to the Nordic langskippet - "long ship"). According to naval historians, the term drakkar properly applies only to the largest warships, while warships of normal size are called langskip.
On the other side of the locket is the Vegvísir symbol surrounded by runes. Vegvísir is an Icelandic magical staff that is supposed to help its wielder find a way through
severe weather. The symbol is attested in the Huld Manuscript collected in Iceland by Geir Vigfusson in Akureyri in 1860.
